Who didn’t grow up?

I often thought I didn’t. With friends we used to dream and invent civilizations, read books and discuss interesting subjects. But then we started having kids, jobs and they started only to dream about buying stuff and going on holidays and I was coming for tea, sitting here and waiting for 20 years when someone would talk about anything interesting, deep, intriguing, mysterious… Then one day I was feeling bold and asked my Tarot-loving friend, “Why you never talk about anything philosophical”? “Oh, I hate it. Nobody ever agrees on anything.” But why we all have to agree? We don’t live by consensus.

So what is more “grown up”, talking only about banal safe subjects and being afraid of controversial stuff, or preferring things deep, unclear and being bored to death with everything mundane?

Are you with me? Can I come to you for tea next time?
